Best Newcomer 2019

17 April 2019
News

On 4 April, we celebrated the success of our staff at the Marjorie Newton Wright Awards 2019. In the coming weeks, we will be sharing the stories behind each of our inspiring winners, starting with the 'Best Newcomer'.

Each of the 21 nominees in this category showed readiness to go above and beyond for people they support. But for the judges, there was one clear winner.

Winner - Rebecca Gordon – MacIntyre School, Wingrave

Since arriving at MacIntyre School, Becca has had a positive impact on not only students but staff too. With no previous experience in the field of social care, she has shown a high level of creativity in how she supports the students and is already leading the way for new staff.

Speaking about Becca's presence at the school, Kate Webb, MacIntyre's Intensive Interaction Mentor said:

"Becca has a natural flair for being creative and finding ways to engage the students. I have seen her sitting on the floor in the corridor reading books to a student who finds it difficult to be in class. I've seen her singing songs to a student to keep him engaged and I have seen her positively glowing after a successful swimming trip."

Not only this, but Becca is really keen to learn and develop and constantly demonstrates how she applies her training into her role. She is always seeking to improve the experience and opportunities for students.

Congratulations to Becca and all of our fantastic nominees!
