Breast Cancer Awareness with I4T

31 July 2018
News

Supporting each individual to feel good about themselves to stay safe and healthy is extremely important to us at MacIntyre. Last week, MacIntyre’s Inspired for Training group in Chesterfield discussed the importance of checking for breast cancer.

Lead by Lisa Burgin, Health Facilitator for Derbyshire NHS, the group were shown a video and discussed the best way to check for lumps and any changes in their breasts.

Alison Wright, MacIntyre’s Training, and Development Co-ordinator said:

“Many of us thought we already knew what to do, but we learned some new things too. Lisa told us the best way to check for lumps is with a soapy hand and check right up to the shoulder and under the armpits too. She showed us photos and a film about going for a mammogram, which the whole group agreed helped them to be more ‘breast aware’. Ultimately we learned that we should tell someone if we notice anything different.”
