Where could £50 take you? For our three Franklins £50 Challenge Teams, £50 was all they needed to raise a fantastic £6,000 for the people we support.
At the beginning of the year, MacIntyre were delighted to participate in the Franklins Solicitors LLP ‘£50 Challenge 2019’ for the first time, alongside Willen Hospice and Cynthia Spencer Hospice.
The challenge, which ran from 24 January to March 21, required teams to raise as much money as possible for their chosen charity in just eight weeks, using a £50 start-up investment from Franklins Solicitors.
Getting creative
Turning £50 into just under £6,000 wasn’t an easy task, but it was something all three of our teams embraced head-on. The teams organised everything from samosa and bake sales, a 48-hour static bike competition (bringing together staff at locations in England and Scotland), to a 5K lunchtime run which was open to all staff.
One team also decided to hold an auction, featuring an enthusiastic auctioneer who kindly ran the evenings proceedings. Not only were people in the room bidding on weekends away and homemade cakes all donated by staff and generous customers, but the auction also called upon two telephone bidders who battled it out for prizes.
We are also pleased to share that one of our teams also had an in-house tuck shop, which looks to remain a permanent addition now the Franklins £50 Challenge has finished.
To conclude the challenge, Franklins Solicitors held a held an awards evening on April 24 for all three charities and their participating teams. It was announced MacIntyre’s Challenge Champions for 2019 was KAM Project Consultants Ltd, who raised an incredible £3,300. The team were also thrilled to take home the award for Best Use of Social Media.
In total, our three teams raised just under £6,000. Every penny will be used for projects the children, young people and adults that we support can enjoy.
