We shared so many stories about our fantastic volunteers last week, but did you know that The MacIntyre Golf Committee is made up of kind volunteers and fabulous Trustees?
The MacIntyre Golf Committee was set up by Mike O’Shea. Here Mike recalls the purpose of the group:
“At the end of 1986, a small group was formed to raise funds for the bakery and coffee shop to be built at Great Holm in Milton Keynes as MacIntyre’s first ‘street side’ development and homes for 36 young people."
He added:
"The Duke of Bedford’s late father and founder of Woburn Golf Club suggested a charity golf day at Woburn as part of our fundraising activities and generously donated the Duke’s Course for the day. This first event proved very popular and the funding targets were achieved but the die was cast… Why not do it again?!”
Fast forward to 2019 and the 32nd MacIntyre Golf Day took place in May with 32 teams taking part and raising £50,000. Since 1987 this event has raised over £800,000 for the people supported by MacIntyre.
We should like to take the opportunity to thank each trustee and each Golf Committee member, past and present, for giving so generously of their time and skills.
