Over the next three years at MacIntyre, we hope to develop alternative community-based solutions, for people currently inappropriately placed in secure residential settings. Carly Morrissey, our new My Way Facilitator is helping us to achieve this goal.
Sharing her thoughts on her new role, Carly said:
"I am a mum of five children and have worked for MacIntyre for the last three years, joining as a part-time Support Worker, progressing to Senior Support Worker and then a Frontline Manager in Shrewsbury, until this new role. It’s amazing to be part of people’s lives and actually feel like I am making a difference, even if it is in the simplest of ways. Life is busy, but I really enjoy every day.
When the job of My Way Transforming Care Facilitator was advertised it immediately excited me and I saw it as a really good opportunity to progress within another area of the organisation which really interested me.
Transforming Care is in the news a lot at the moment for all the wrong reasons, but this is an amazing opportunity to make news for all the good reasons. MacIntyre has a high level of integrity and values and, by investing further in this area, we can make sure this is carried forward by:
- Ensuring that we fully support everyone through transition and onward to living in the community.
- Building bridges with families that may have lost trust through the difficulties their family member has been through.
We talk a lot about being person centred, but throughout the transitions it essential we make this as much about being family centred, to gain the trust and use the wealth of knowledge.
I am really looking forward to getting started in the role and using the skills I have already developed to make a difference and I look forward to working with and alongside everyone involved in Transforming Care."
