Volunteers contribute so much to the work we do every day. It’s therefore very important that we also recognise volunteer achievements at our annual staff awards. Andy Cornwell was the very worthy winner of the 2021 ‘Volunteer of the Year’ award.

Andy won because he absolutely saved the day during lockdown for so many of the people we support and our staff, running weekly Wednesday evening Zoom Bingo sessions.

Nominations described how he welcomed everyone and got to know people as individuals, even giving alternative number calls and names, called MacBingo Lingo. He lifted everyone’s spirits when they were feeling isolated during lockdown, and managed to make everyone laugh.
