Meet Terry Smith, MacIntyre’s new Recruitment Manager

8 August 2018
News

Working at MacIntyre isn’t just a job, but a rewarding and exciting experience. For our Recruitment Team, it’s a chance to help people find a career that allows them to make a difference to the lives of people we support. We sat down with MacIntyre’s new Recruitment Manager Terry Smith to discuss his first month working at MacIntyre.

Could you introduce yourself?

For those I haven't had the chance to meet yet I am Terry, the new Recruitment Manager at MacIntyre.

What did you do before joining MacIntyre?

A: My recruitment career spans over 15 years and has been predominantly within health and social care, working in different settings including agency, public sector, the private sector, and now a charity. Without question, the areas I have the most passion for are Learning Disability, Autism, and Mental Health.

How are you finding your new role at MacIntyre?

Time flies when you are having fun. It’s not always the case that you can say that about starting a new job but having completed the first month of my role I can honestly say I'm really enjoying it.

What has your first month at MacIntyre been like?

My time so far in MacIntyre has been spent settling in, getting to know my new colleagues, systems and immersing myself in the MacIntyre DNA and culture. Its been great and meeting the people at the services, meetings, and courses I have attended it's clear just how committed everyone is to do their best for the people we support.

I've also been able to see the amount of recruitment activity that is already happening across the organisation. The big thing for me over my next couple of months is to ensure that this work is well supported, make recruitment processes as efficient as possible, bring new ideas to the table and ensure that there is a good flow of communication and understanding between operational and central recruitment teams. I believe these foundations will help enhance our current recruitment offering and bring the results we need in attracting new staff.

What’s your favourite part of working as MacIntyre’s Recruitment Manager so far?

I like getting out meeting people as much as I can and will be popping along to Front Line Manager meetings and regional offices in July and August so I look forward to meeting more of you then.
