Molly* and Amy* have been living and learning at MacIntyre’s residential School in Wingrave, Buckinghamshire since they were eleven years old. In July Molly and Amy completed their education and therefore had to leave MacIntyre School over the summer.
MacIntyre was selected by Buckinghamshire County Council as the preferred organisation to continue to support Molly and Amy as they take the steps into adulthood.
In preparation for the move, a detailed plan was developed over a number of months in collaboration with Molly, Amy, their families and staff that know them best. Their relationship at MacIntyre’s School had demonstrated that the young women would benefit from sharing a home together as they are used to being in each other’s company, have similar needs and are both from and have family connections nearby.
Working with Grand Union Housing Group, a house that meets the needs of both young women was identified. The house offers Molly and Amy their own rooms, shared reception rooms, and a garden space, as well as easy access to the local town.
To support the move, we were delighted to be awarded a grant of £10,000 from William Harding’s Charity which will enable the young women to buy items to really personalise their home.
Sarah Lancaster, MacIntyre’s Area Manager, said
“It’s been lovely getting to know Amy and Molly over the past few months and we’re looking forward to supporting them as they settle into their new home.”
