Safeguarding Adults Week asks us to look closely at what prevention really means in everyday practice. At MacIntyre, prevention is the steady, thoughtful work that goes into creating a culture where people feel safe, listened to and respected.
Safeguarding starts long before a new colleague steps into their role, and recruitment plays a vital part in that. It begins with how we write our job adverts, continues through every call, every check, every piece of training, and carries on throughout someone’s time with us. Each stage is another way of welcoming people whose values match our own and who are ready to offer the right support, in the right way.
The video below brings this to life, with colleagues and people who draw on support showing how attraction, checks, culture fit and shared responsibility all add up to safer, stronger teams.
Alongside the video, the Recruitment Roadmap sets out five simple ways we embed safeguarding throughout the recruitment journey:
- Safeguarding through advert writing - person-centred adverts that are honest, respectful and protect people’s privacy.
- Screening calls - getting to know candidates and understanding how their values line up with ours.
- ID documents - confirming identity and right to work safely and fairly.
- Recruitment checks - completing all necessary checks to ensure suitability.
- Induction and training - giving new colleagues the right support from the very beginning.
