Support MacIntyre through the Franklin’s £50 Challenge 2019

10 May 2018
News

After the success of the Franklin’s £50 Challenge in January, Franklins Solicitors have announced that MacIntyre has been chosen as one of the local charities that will be supported by the Franklins £50 Challenge in 2019, alongside Cynthia Spencer Hospice and Willen Hospice.

Set to begin on Thursday 24th January 2019, the challenge provides businesses with the opportunity to undertake in team building exercises, promote their organisation and network with participating organisations, all whilst supporting local charities including MacIntyre.

This year’s challenge saw 25 teams use the £50 donation from Franklins Solicitors to commit to a variety of fundraising activities, with the aim to generate as much profit as possible. Over 8 weeks, the teams delivered and participated in a range of creative events including: quiz nights, cake sales and raffles. The teams also made use of Shrove Tuesday and Valentine’s Day through the sales of pancakes and bouquets and the more unusual ‘Curry in a Hurry’ and slime sales.

After the 8-week period of fundraising, the challenge concluded on Friday 23rd March 2018 with an astonishing total of £48,969.61.

In response to MacIntyre being chosen as one of the three charities supported by the Franklin’s £50 Challenge 2019, Head of Marketing and Fundraising Claire Kennedy said:

“We are absolutely thrilled to be invited by Franklins Solicitors to be part of this brilliant initiative!

It’s fair to say that these are tough times for the social care sector: funding continues to be tight as we try to do more with less, continuing to maintain our own high standards to ensure that we achieve our vision “for all people with a learning disability to live a life that makes sense to them”. This makes fundraising an increasingly important activity for MacIntyre.

We are proud that every penny raised through fundraising directly benefits the people we support – things that add to a person’s quality of life. Teams involved in this challenge will have the opportunity to choose a particular project to support if they wish.

We look forward to sharing updates on this challenge over the coming months.”
