Celia started volunteering at MacIntyre a few months ago after her employer, Willmott Dixon, became one of MacIntyre’s corporate partners.
For Celia, the opportunity to share her passion for all things arts and crafts with people we support was an exciting prospect. For the people we support it has been the catalyst for opening up opportunities we didn’t know existed. One of the outcomes has been that the Learning Centre’s Junk Art group entered a national competition organised by the Considerate Constructors Scheme and won! With support and encouragement from Celia, the group made a six-foot robot from recycled materials; it was a fantastic example of the benefits of working with other organisations and volunteers to build relationships and showcase what we do.
Celia was instrumental in this project and kept everyone’s spirits high with the occasional treat of cake and biscuits. The whole group are always delighted when Celia is able to spend the day with us.
