MacIntyre Academies
Part of MacIntyre’s purpose is to make a positive contribution to the lives of children in need of support.
We understand that transition between children’s support and adult support can be daunting for young people with a learning disability and their families.
Different environments, different teams providing support and a change in routine can be stressful for the young person involved, especially if it includes leaving school, starting employment, further education or moving home.
Using our My Way approach we work closely with young people, their families and existing support networks, education providers, housing providers and community groups to provide a smooth transition period. My Way is unique and tailored to each individual to ensure the transition for each person is successful and sustainable in the longer term. Our school and alternative education provisions have dedicated transition teams, led by a My Way Facilitator, who leads and coordinates the transition to achieve the person’s future wishes and goals.
