Enterprise George

4 July 2025
News

George, who lives in Greater Manchester, is an enterprising person who enjoys helping others. He especially enjoys making a bit of money when he does so.

Thinking about the things that George is good at and cares about, he thought about what he could do to help other people and make a bit of money too.

He’s already used his wood-working skills to make Christmas trees out of old pallets he’s found.

And in the spring time he planted and germinated lots of seeds for plants for his own and his neighbours' gardens.

And then George started washing and valeting cars for people he knows. He did a thorough job. His neighbours walking past his house asked if he would be interested in washing their cars too. The word has spread and George has invested in a bit of kit, including a multipack of air fresheners so he can offer the final touches.

George said

It's my hobby, I enjoy it and used to do it where I lived before. I like to spend the money on treats, extra tobacco, or a new tracksuit. Sometimes I save it for holidays to use in the arcades.

George's staff said

It gives him a sense of purpose; he likes being busy and having the freedom of money that he has earned. He thrives on compliments and praise and he genuinely does a good job.
