Three people supported by MacIntyre have been chosen to pilot an assistive technology scheme in Shropshire, using tablets to develop skills needed for independent living.
One of the people chosen is *Liam.
Meet Liam
Liam has been supported by MacIntyre for several years and has an active social calendar, from dates with his girlfriend, to volunteering at his local charity shop.
The introduction of a memo planner, an assistive technology tool, has had an incredible impact on Liam's life in the last few months, increasing his independence and supporting his goal to one day live on his own with continued support from our team in Shropshire.
As well as helping Liam to develop his culinary skills and provide medication reminders, the tool has helped to decrease his anxieties around staff changes, providing detail and photographs of the staff who will be supporting him that day.
Adam, a Frontline Manager in Shropshire said:
"It has really worked for Liam."
Speaking about the impact the memo planner has had, Liam said:
"At first, I had trouble getting it to work. Staff have helped me a lot and I know what I am doing now.
I have a lot of photos of staff that come up when they are on shift and my girlfriend and I can plan my weeks with the alarms. I also have a reminder for my medication. I want to move to a bungalow on my own and I know my memo planner will help with this."
