But what is a Memory Café?
Memory Cafés are a fun, welcoming and relaxing environment for people to take part in social activities, make new friends and enjoy cake and a cuppa.
Our Cafés are open to everyone: people living with dementia, those caring for someone that is, friends, families and those curious to find out more.
Our Memory Cafés have featured animal therapy, performances from choirs and dancers, arts and crafts, games, raffles and much more. Of course, many people prefer to simply sit and have a quiet chat, which is great as well.
Why is it called a Memory Café
At MacIntyre, dementia affects many of the people we support and their families. A Memory Café is somewhere people can share old memories and make new ones.
We know that a lot of people in our local communities affected by dementia become isolated, so we provide an environment where anyone who needs to can see friendly faces, share their memories, and feel less alone.
