Volunteer Week – Dewi’s story

6 June 2019
News

"Dewi is a quiet, understated kind of person; gentle and respectful and makes such a big difference to those who have the privilege to know him.

Dewi has been volunteering with us for 10 years having taken early retirement. He devotes much of his free time to MacIntyre, giving two days a week to support and enhance the opportunities we provide. He spends one day as part of a group and the other session supporting an individual to pursue his passion for bird-watching and nature – or the occasional trip to Luton Airport for a bit of plane spotting!

Dewi has been pivotal in developing and leading nature-related sessions, sharing his interests and knowledge with the people we support and staff. He puts so much thought into each day, coming up with themes and ideas of places to visit as well as learning resources, always ensuring there is something suitable for everyone in each session.

Dewi’s contribution has really shaped the variety of activities we can offer each week.”
