Connecting Virtually
Knowing how many of us check in online each day, it felt we were perhaps missing a trick on our MacIntyre in Leicester Facebook page, especially knowing how many great interactions and gloriously ordinary moments happen on a weekly basis. We’ve been ramping up our online efforts in a bid to grow our numbers digitally and hope that it brings new opportunities our way (Spoiler: It did!)
Creating and Connecting
We’ve supported people to create newsletters, quizzes and posters before, but felt the need to go one step further: videos! Thanks to some funding we were awarded, Max received video-making equipment last year and has doubled down both with his office time, and also his filming, editing and interviewing skills.
Thanks to his brilliance outside of MacIntyre, we found the perfect excuse to create something from nothing: filming our office in a series of videos, asking questions relating to Christmas, and later editing them for an online audience. Aside from Max, we’ve shared stories from our MacIntyre Leicester Football Club (the second biggest team in Leicester!), people who live Waring Close, we've produced a Festive TV Guide and many of our gloriously ordinary moments in between.
Opportunities
Despite the dreadful weather and temperatures around this time of year, we’ve stayed positive and buoyed by our initial online growth. We have managed to work alongside FTM Dance (a local performing arts charity – purveyors of the FTM Panto!), BBC Leicester (who loved our inspirational story about Max), Viva el Burrito (a local independent eatery who sponsor the football team), De Montfort Hall (the largest venue in our city) and Team Hub CIC (who facilitate our events!)
We'll most certainly be adding to this list in the next few months. Watch this space!
