December’s Employee of the Month nominations celebrate leadership, care, adaptability and a willingness to step forward, whether that’s building new community connections, learning a role inside out, or embracing change with energy and confidence.
Deborah Rowe, Adult Social Care (Milton Keynes)
Debbie has been recognised for her leadership and determination in bringing the Milton Keynes Giving Tree to life for a second year. Building on a connection she made last year, Debbie took the initiative to contact Milton Keynes Hospital Charity, met with them to understand their needs, and then coordinated the whole project. From sourcing trees and writing labels to arranging placements in local cafés, Debbie ensured the Giving Tree reached the wider community. She also led on creating items to sell, and organised sales, raising funds for the charity. Debbie’s enthusiasm, organisation and commitment to helping others take part made this a brilliant example of community connection in action.
Maureen Milgo, Children and Young People (Hertfordshire)
As a new member of the night staff team, Maureen has made a strong impression through her dedication to learning and supporting young people well. She consistently follows guidance and has chosen to stay on in the mornings to spend more time getting to know the young people at Woodland View. Through shadowing and learning about approaches such as intensive interaction, Maureen has developed her understanding of how best to support each young person. Her commitment and thoughtful approach have helped her quickly become a valued part of the team.
Franchesca Hobden, No Limits (Bedfordshire)
Although Franchesca has only recently joined No Limits Bedford, she has already settled in as though she’s been part of the team for much longer. Bringing experience from a retail background, Franchesca has shown resilience, flexibility and a calm, adaptable approach to her work. She is keen to learn, open to change, and consistently focused on supporting students to feel safe, heard and valued. Franchesca’s engagement and enthusiasm have made her an asset to the team, and she is already a valued colleague with strong potential to grow and develop within MacIntyre.
Nicky Thurgood, Central and Specialist Support
Nicky has been nominated in recognition of how she has embraced a significantly changed role within Support Services. Following team changes earlier this year, Nicky now supports Business Development, Marketing and Fundraising and the Best Practice team. She has approached these changes with a positive, proactive attitude, taking the time to learn new processes and information while continuing to provide reliable support. Nicky’s ‘can do’ approach and willingness to adapt have made her a key member across several teams.
Together, these nominations reflect the many ways colleagues across MacIntyre make a difference every day: through initiative, learning, flexibility and genuine care for others.
