We’re delighted to share that our Children’s Home in Bedfordshire has been rated ‘Good’ following a recent Ofsted inspection.
The inspection took place on 9 –10 December. In their report, Ofsted recognised the warm, trusting relationships between young people and staff, noting that:
‘Children benefit from warm and nurturing relationships with staff who know them well. Staff adapt their communication styles to meet each child’s individual needs. As a result, children feel understood and supported.’
The report also highlights how young people are supported in ways that make sense to them, and how they’re encouraged to have a say in decisions about their own lives.
Inspectors noted that children’s views, wishes and feelings are central to everyday life at the home. Staff use different ways to listen to young people and respond using their preferred communication styles, helping them feel heard and valued. Young people enjoy a wide range of activities shaped around their interests, with staff joining in, building relationships and a ‘sense of belonging.’
Duane Anstey, Registered Manager at Hillside, said:
“We’re really pleased with the recognition in this report. Our focus is always on supporting each young person in ways that work for them, while building strong relationships with their families too.
Ofsted recognised that ‘children benefit from strong, trusting relationships with staff who provide a nurturing and safe environment’. That’s down to the everyday commitment of the team, working together to create a place where young people can feel settled and thrive.”
Well done to everyone involved.
