I've been reflecting on the importance of our work at MacIntyre in our local communities. It's a core part of our DNA that:
We value friends, family and neighbourhoods
A recent highlight for me was getting together a group of staff and people we support to join The Parks Trust for a litter pick in April. We went to Teardrop Lakes in Milton Keynes, right behind our central office. It seemed like the perfect chance to get involved and It ended up being a great turn out.
A great day
We had a lovely mix of people from Lifelong Learning, Milton Keynes No Limits, and Specialist Support all taking part. It was great to see so many of us coming together from different areas to do something positive for our local community.
The weather couldn’t have been better, the sun was shining and everyone really enjoyed it. The Parks Trust team were fantastic too, really friendly and chatty, making everyone feel welcome and appreciated.
A great result
Teardrop Lakes was looking so much cleaner and tidier afterwards. It felt good knowing we had made a difference and we had a lot of fun doing it! There was a real sense of teamwork, and plenty of laughs along the way.
Huge thanks to The Parks Trust for being such great hosts and to everyone who took the time to join in. We’re already looking forward to the next one!
We kept on going!
And we did another one a week later:
As part of our ongoing support for The Parks Trust, a group of MacIntyre staff and people who draw on our support attended a Litter Pick at Linford Wood following the Walking Festival in May. It was a great opportunity to give back to the community, help the environment, and connect with others who share the same values and passions. We came along with partners and families, people from the local mosque got involved, and we all enjoyed that community feeling.
