Marc lives in Wrexham. He has a lot of interests, he’s sociable and he’s funny. He likes meeting new people and going to new places.
He loves the National Trust properties and enjoys making a plan for his week so he knows what’s happening. He’s good at noticing things and enjoys checking that gadgets work and if they don't, he takes them to pieces. He really likes planning.
We have to be careful getting the right support for Marc but once he finds the right people and gels with them he feels great and confident.
We noticed that although Marc enjoys days out and other activities he really wanted something meaningful and wants to help. That side of things was missing from his life. It brings him a lot of pride to help, and he enjoys having photos to show people and catalogue for himself.
Connecting
We talked about how we could support Marc to contribute and have some purpose. We looked at local organisations and two of our team said they knew the British Heart Foundation was a welcoming and inclusive place. We went to see them and had a tour of the shop and warehouse.
This was an amazing day!

Offering help
Marc’s experience being our Health and Safety Rep is something that he can really offer – checking that donated items work when they come into the warehouse and this was something that the British Heart Foundation needed.
Other possibilities
Marc is going to see how he gets on when he starts next week. And because this has gone well we are thinking about the next thing!
We have approached the local National Trust and asked for a meeting – we wondered if there was anything Marc could help them with. We are also looking at places that recycle electricals to see what happens locally and if it’s another area we can support Marc to use his gifts, skills and passions.
